Performance Physiotherapy welcomes new Physio to the team!

Performance Physiotherapy welcomed its newest member of the team this month as Josie Greenslade MCSP started work at our Pontypridd clinic.

Josie brings with her a wealth of experience within the field of musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and will be working across our Pontypridd, Caerphilly and FCP clinics.

She joins us having moved from London where she previously worked at a number of renowned central London private clinics. In addition to this she has worked as a Physiotherapist within the British Army, in elite level sport and at various locations for the NHS.

Away from work Josie enjoys skiing, marathon running and kayaking. She is a fluent Welsh speaker and can provide consultation in Welsh if preferred.

Our Occupational Health services continue to be in high demand as we help organisations of all sizes across Wales look after the musculoskeletal health of their employees. In the last year the number of organisation we provide Occupational Health Physiotherapy services to has grown again and we look forward to continuing to help companies keep their employees healthy and productive in 2025!

Through our musculoskeletal clinics we have again helped thousands of patients return to pain free function, sport and work.

Our GP based first contact physiotherapy (FCP) clinics provide an important service within primary care, allowing patients early access to assessment and management of musculoskeletal pain. Our clinics continue to grow and expand within the local community and are valued by both GP practices and their patients.

In addition to all this Performance Physiotherapy continued to develop its existing comprehensive range of Physiotherapy services, including injury assessment and treatment, injury rehabilitation, acupuncture, sports massage, shockwave therapy, ergonomic assessments, medico-legal services, and cancer specialist physiotherapy, among others. A Milestone Year!

2023 marked 20 years since the formation of Performance Physiotherapy and the clinic first opening in Pontypridd in October 2003. Lots has changed since then and the business has grown significantly, becoming one of the leading providers of a range of private Physiotherapy services across South Wales.

Expanding Services for Comprehensive Care...

2023 has been a year of continued growth and development for the practice!

In addition to our long-established Pontypridd base, in June we opened consulting rooms in Caerphilly, allowing our clients in this area access to our services more easily.

As our client base continues to grow so has our team and in 2023 we welcomed a number of new senior Physiotherapists, further adding to the expertise and exceptionally high levels of patient care the clinic is able to offer…

We also invested in a new Shockwave Therapy machine from the excellent https://ctmedical.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/CTmedsales allowing us to continue to provide our patients with the most advanced Shockwave Therapy technology and the highest possible standards of care.

Over the last 12 months we have teamed up with a number of external vocational/health and well being providers to allow clients to access our Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation programmes. We have also expanded our occupational health provision and now work with several new local organisations to help look after the musculoskeletal health and wellbeing of their employees.

Our GP based First Contact Physiotherapy (FCP) services are well established and form an integral part of the care offered to patients within the individual practices where we are based. Demand for access to Physiotherapy assessment/guidance within primary care continues to grow and 2024 will no doubt see us continue to deliver these services to even greater numbers of patients as we work alongside our GP colleagues.

Our many other services including Cancer Specialist Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Post Operative Physiotherapy, Ergonomics and Workplace Assessments, Medico-Legal services and Case Management have also all grown and we look forward to developing these services further in 2024!

Sports Physiotherapy

The clinic continues to be one of the leading providers locally in the management of Sports/Musculoskeletal injuries and 2023 has seen us help hundreds of clients back from injury to the sports/activities they enjoy most, whether elite athlete or weekend warrior!

Our expert team of Physiotherapists all specialise the management of musculoskeletal/sports injuries and we also have strong links with a number of local sports physicians and orthopaedic surgeons, ensuring we are able to guide our clients to the best possible specialists when needed.

Developing links with the local community...

The clinic is extremely proud to be able to help support Pontypridd/Rhondda based sports teams and organisations in a small way and we have thankfully been able continue to do this in 2023. This includes: Tylorstown RFC, Pontypridd RFC, Ynyshir Albions FC, Pontypridd Cricket Club and Caerphilly RFC.

The clinic celebrated 20 years since it opened in Pontypridd this October...

October 2023 marked 20 years since Performance Physiotherapy first opened its doors in Pontypridd and the team celebrated with a party at No.12 cocktail bar! ��

Over the past 20 years the clinic has continued to grow and we now work across a number of locations in South Wales providing Physiotherapy services to a range of patients/clients. We have been extremely lucky to have had some of the best Physiotherapists around as part of our team over this time, helping us to become one of the leading Physiotherapy practices in South Wales.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in orthopaedics, physiotherapy, sports medicine, urology and veterinary medicine. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. The energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.

Shockwaves are characterized by jump change in pressure, high amplitude and non-periodicity.

The kinetic energy of the projectile, created by compressed air, is transferred to the transmitter at the end of the applicator and further into the tissue.

MEDICAL EFFECTS

Acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration.
