Manual therapy

What is it?

Manual therapy encompasses a wide variety of techniques including manipulation, mobilisation and a range of soft tissue techniques such as trigger point release and specific soft tissue mobilisations.  All our Physiotherapists have been trained at post graduate level in the selection and execution of appropriate techniques to help relive pain and improve subsequent movement responses at any joint.

What can it help to treat?

  • Restricted joint movement caused by injury
  • Inhibition of our movement resulting from pain caused by injury
  • Tight/overactive muscles
  • Muscle activation patterns

Research would suggest that manual therapy techniques affect our nervous systems response to pain and can help to build confidence in movement and help aid recovery from injury.  These types of treatments are commonly used with other modalities.
